Chief Executive Officer - Liquium
Paul's current role as CEO of Liquium puts him at the intersection of emerging technologies and at the centre of the largest hydrogen-consuming market, ammonia production. Liquium's catalyst promotes increased production and efficiency for an ammonia plant. Importantly, this is the most impactful route to increasing ammonia production to support rising demand from clean energy applications. Helping to address the expected shortfall of ammonia in the coming years, while also increasing the adoption of hydrogen and ammonia as clean, low-carbon energy vectors. Liquium's ambitious goal is to deploy this technology globally, and to do so, we are working with existing global leaders in ammonia and catalyst development. Paul's exposure to this global industrial chemical sector would provide a unique view of how industrial chemical companies are planning for the green hydrogen economy and, secondly, how emerging technologies will impact this market.
Liquium's technology was developed at Victoria University of Wellington in Wellington, NZ, and was spun out as a company in May 2022. Liquium aims to grow and incubate the technology in NZ as the company scales. Therefore, Paul is strongly focused on the NZ hydrogen landscape, including how new technologies can scale in NZ, the appropriate support partners required to enable NZ hydrogen-based technologies to grow, and how this could benefit the wider NZ market, particularly with respect to ammonia, the agricultural industry, domestic energy, refrigeration, and the export potential of renewable energy.
Finally, Paul Geraghty has a PhD in chemistry from the University of Melbourne, with a focus on materials science and developing new organic semiconductors for flexible solar cells. This was the catalyst for an interest in the energy sector and is now used to help communicate and understand complex scientific ideas, research and technology directly from scientists to industry stakeholders, investors and the public.
Paul Geraghty is the current CEO and Co-Founder of Liquium. In this capacity, Paul reports to Liquium's board of directors. He has held this position since the Company's incorporation in May 2022. Paul also understands the challenges of operating a pre-revenue, deep-tech start-up in NZ that is aiming for both local and international impact. This experience of growing a company from the beginning provides key insight into the challenges and opportunities that can be unique to smaller companies.
