NZ–EU Dialogue: EU Hydrogen Certification Framework
Registration of Interest
Date: Wednesday, 22 April 2026
Time: 6:00pm – 7:30pm (NZT) (Morning session for European participants)
Purpose
This session will bring together New Zealand and European stakeholders to explore the European Union’s hydrogen certification frameworks, with a focus on how these systems operate in practice and their relevance for New Zealand’s emerging hydrogen sector.
There will be a series of short presentations from leading European certification bodies including ISCC, CertifHy and REDcert. Each organisation will explain their certification schemes and present practical case studies (hydrogen or derivatives) to demonstrate real world application, followed by Q & A.
As hydrogen markets develop, certification frameworks are becoming critical for verifying emissions intensity, enabling international trade (especially with the EU) and providing investor and market confidence.
This dialogue offers New Zealand stakeholders a timely opportunity to understand EU certification requirements and expectations, explore alignment opportunities for future hydrogen exports and engage directly with key European certification bodies
This event is brought to you by the Directorate-General for Energy (European Commission), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
