James has been a senior energy executive for many years and contributed broadly to the development of industry arrangements in electricity and gas at an industry wide level.
In his executive roles he has overseen major developments and operations across the energy supply chain and he has held Board positions at Simply Energy and at Western Energy Services.
James was an initial supporter of the New Zealand Hydrogen Council in its earliest days in his prior role at Contact Energy, in which he engaged extensively with domestic and international hydrogen stakeholders. James attended the virtual trade mission to Japan as a hydrogen advocate in 2021.
James is across hydrogen developments around the world and the opportunities in Aotearoa and as CEO of a large gas distributor is interested in ensuring green gases are available for blending into the fuel mix as part of Powerco's decarbonisation focus.
