Michael has extensive experience in project governance, management and procurement. A skilled relationship builder, he has recently led collaborative partnerships to deliver capital works and maintenance contracts with a number of key customers, including Dunedin, Christchurch, Nelson and Wellington airports. His role focuses on leadership, project review and ensuring Fulton Hogan’s national standards are delivered to Queenstown Airport.
With a clear focus on the customer’s goals, Michael ensures that the team’s efforts achieve the right results to support the long-term direction of the contract. His skillset includes the ability to coach managers to energise delivery and improve performance. Having spent five years on the Fonterra Senior Leadership Programme, he has gained considerable insight into the benefits of forming trusting relationships as a basis for achieving long term sustainable goals.
Michael has a broad skillset covering all elements of team leadership and civil engineering. A Member of the IPENZ Competency Assessment Board, he can understand highly complex engineering issues and make sound practical decisions aligned with customer requirements. His broad skillset includes:

Michael is a member of the Institute of Directors of New Zealand, is a SCAPE Art and Industry Board Member and was a Board Member of the IPENZ Competency Assessment Board from 2014 – 2016. His qualifications include CPEng, IPE, BE Civil and Diploma in Managing Excellence in Engineering and Construction.
